Background

In medicine and research, we accomplish our goals as a team. We’d like to recognize that Osteoporosis Canada has been a tireless leader in the mission to prevent secondary hip fractures. We’d also like to acknowledge the many scientists and program developers who have been so important in advancing the work. They will play a huge role in getting our efforts to the next level.

Right now, only 15% of Canadians have access to fracture prevention programs such as the ones currently working in 50+ FLS sites in Canada.

We need to change that. The Brookfield Chair will advance fracture prevention programs to all Canadian jurisdictions and will advocate to health ministers and policy makers to provide evidence-informed fracture prevention for all Canadians. We will expand our research efforts to determine the best way to deliver programs custom-tailored to the needs of individual communities.
